うかがい【伺い】

1 〔訪問〕 a call; a visit.

●そのうちお伺いしましょう. I will pay you a visit one of these days.

・今夜お伺いいたします. I'll come over to your house [pay you a visit] tonight.

・喜んでお伺いします. I shall be delighted [charmed, pleased] to come [go].

2 〔指図を求めること〕

●伺いを立てる ask sb for instructions; 〔神霊に〕 invoke [consult] an oracle

・彼女はいつも上司に伺いを立ててから, 行動する. She always asks the boss what he wants done before she does anything.

ご機嫌伺い a courtesy call [visit].
